Given the significance of this year’s milestone, Live Violence Free has chosen to reflect on our roots, honoring the original founders of the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center at this year's Sunset Gala. Our vision for a community free from domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse has guided us through four decades of challenging work.
What began with a pay-phone and a cinderblock cabin has evolved to be a source of empowerment for thousands of community members every year through counseling, legal aid, advocacy, and prevention education. The safety and serenity of the natural splendor that surrounds us reflects the peace we hope to instill in each individual who seeks help from Live Violence Free. Much has changed over the years, including our name, but our collective dedication to a violence-free South Lake Tahoe remains constant and steadfast. We cannot realize this goal or continue to impact the lives of so many without the influence and support from people like you.
