Join us to celebrate South Lake Tahoe’s newest and most unique BBQ joint! Chicken in a Barrel will host a ribbon cutting celebration with the Tahoe Chamber on Sept. 24 from 4-6 p.m., and will be offering free samples of their delicious BBQ, as well as coupons for a future visit.
Grand opening festivities begin on Saturday from 12-6 p.m. Activities include a chance for the kids to meet Rex the Chicken; bounce house, corn hole and other outdoor games; merchandise and gift card giveaways; and the Sierra Gypsies live from 2-6 p.m. A portion of Saturday’s proceeds will be donated to support the Special Olympics of Nevada. The celebration concludes on Monday afternoon with a ribbon cutting celebration from 4-6 p.m. with the Tahoe Chamber.
The original Chicken in a Barrel opened 8 years ago on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, and is now home to 3 locations. A fast-casual BBQ restaurant located on Lake Tahoe Blvd., the South Lake Tahoe location is the first to open on the mainland. Chicken in a Barrel smoke barbecues their chicken, ribs, beef and pork each day in their unique and proprietary barrels using their own special blend of rubs. In addition to BBQ, they offer Mexican-style plates using their smoke barbecued meats, hamburgers, and side dishes including homemade chili beans, rice, Hawaiian-style coleslaw, macaroni salad, fries, onion rings and corn bread.
